We connect health data. For Europeans.
We are shaping Europe’s health data space - secure, interconnected, and focused on the public good.
The European Health Data Space – Connected. Secure. Driving the Future.
A new era of healthcare is emerging - powered by secure, interoperable, and citizen-controlled health data. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) enables seamless access to medical information across borders, unlocking breakthroughs in research, accelerating innovation in therapies, and improving healthcare delivery for millions of people.
The European Health Data Alliance e.V. (EHDA e.V.) is at the forefront of this transformation.
As a non-profit association, EHDA e.V. is dedicated to advancing citizen-centred health data spaces across Europe. We build and promote a trusted digital ecosystem for the responsible use and exchange of health data. We are grounded in the principles of EHDS, Gaia-X initiatives, and internationally recognized healthcare IT standards.
Through a strong network of companies, research institutions, and public stakeholders, EHDA e.V. actively supports the development of impactful projects and real-world use cases. Our work helps turn ideas into scalable solutions that:
- improve access to innovative healthcare services,
- strengthen healthcare systems and
- ultimately enhance the quality of life for citizens across Europe.
Beyond project facilitation, EHDA e.V. acts as a think tank for the future of digital healthcare - shaping forward-looking models that put citizens in control of their data. Data sovereignty, trust, and responsible innovation are at the core of everything we do.
European Health Data Alliance e.V.: Working together to shape a more connected, innovative, and healthier Europe.
Members & Partners
As the consortium leader in HEALTH-X dataLOFT, Charité has turned simple recipients of services into decisive and active partners. Citizens are given sovereignty over their health data and decide what happens to their sensitive data, how it is used and who is authorised to use it. Charité's membership of EHDA e.V. will enable this valuable work to continue.

Create framework conditions under which the requirements of the EHDS can be implemented as quickly as possible, as well as possible and as efficiently as possible.
With the European Health Data Alliance e.V. (EHDA), a non-profit association has been established with the goal of advancing the development of citizen-centered health data spaces in Europe. The Alliance sees itself as a facilitator enabling companies and interested (research) institutions to successfully develop pioneering health-related projects in relation to the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The founding members build upon the efforts and results of the nationally funded BMWK projects HEALTH-X, TEAM-X, as well as the GAIA-X-Med project funded by the state of Schleswig-Holstein. In the next step, they will invite European partners to further develop the technical and organizational solutions created in these three projects as secure processing environments (SPEs) in cross-border and cross-sector use cases.
Core tasks include the continued development of available technical and organizational solutions for data-driven health services, and the expansion of the technological foundation as a blueprint for building EHDS-compliant data spaces. These serve as secure processing environments in trusted care and research scenarios. In addition, the ongoing development and exchange of know-how, the elaboration and coordination of solution approaches for technical and organizational challenges, as well as their transfer into member companies, into politics, and into the public sphere, represent an essential field of activity. The aim is to promote awareness and diversity of data usage scenarios within society.
